Overtime, Piglet Flu and Fashionable Footgear

This year has been completely ridiculous! How can so many things go wrong? Becky's death left us shorthanded at work just as we hit an especially busy time, so I averaged 75 hours a week for about a month - leaving no time or energy for anything else. I managed to catch the flu. I didn't go to the doctor so I don't know if it was "swine flu" or one of the others going around so I'm calling it "piglet flu," because I had a fairly mild case, but it did take about 10 days to get over the severe cough that came with it. But I did get over it and felt much better. So much better, in fact, that I decided to get the oil changed and a headlight replaced on my vehicle. Walking through the parking lot to pick it up, I stepped in a broken spot in the pavement and severely sprained my ankle. After hobbling around on it for a week, I finally went in and had an x-ray, mostly so everyone would stop worrying about it - because it was feeling much, much better by then. So after walking into the clinic, back to the examining room, back to x-ray, back to the examining room - they inform me my leg is broken and to stop walking on it! So now I have this truly elegant new footwear:

- I know, I know, everyone is jealous and wishes they had one, too.

Oh My! You poor thing, walking around on a broken leg. I hope that it will heal up ok, now that you have this stunning new accessory. I am very familiar with "the boot" as my daughter managed to break her foot twice and sprained it a couple more times. Growing up she just considered it part of her regular wardrobe. I hope your office can ease up on you a little while you heal. I'm available if you need anything. CJok;-)

You get to feeling better really soon and I pray that cloud that is over your head will go away fast (just not to my house!)

I can so relate!!!!!!
I fractured a tendon in my finger & didn't go to the doctor for almost 2 weeks. I now sport a nice stack splint for 8 weeks. Real fun to stitch!!!

Wow! You must have a high threshold for pain. LOL Now that it has that lovely cast it should start healing pretty quickly. Take care of yourself!

Oh wow! I was looking at your blog and noticed you are sporting the same lovely footwear I am :( Although I didn't break my leg I severely sprained a tendon in my foot a couple of weeks ago and they gave me the exact same boot as you have. I can so relate to how your feeling.

Good thoughts being sent your way for a speedy recovery ;)

LOL... I hate to have a chuckle at your expense, but ... If you thought you had a wee sprain and your really broke your leg, chances are you had a full dose of swine flu and infected half the northern hemisphere. Just tell me please that while you had flu symptoms that you didn't go to work, because your co-workers (and their families at home) who caught if from you would not have been at all pleased. When one is exhibiting symptoms, one stays at home to save the rest of the world from whatever one has. Poor you, though.
I hope you are on the mend.

Hi there, I just found your blog and I have to say, been there, done that and I don't wish that on anyone. I know the advantages of having lots of time on your hands now but for me, it was awful. I wish you a quick and speedy recovery. But, enjoy your time while you have it.

First I loved your designs, but most of all your sense of humor in the face of adversity.
A couple years ago I was walking down the steps of my sisters house, the board on one of the steps was loose, and my ankle turned as it does for reason since I hit 50, (I'm 60 now), and I ended up breaking my ankle. Everyone said oh you just twisted it, but I had a feeling it was strange, because I couldn't get up at first. The next morning it was three times it's size and it wouldn't hold my weight. First broken bone I ever had. But I just got one of those like inflatable casts, so thank goodness it wasn't too bad, although it took six weeks to heal. That's why I can appreciate your sense of humor and so glad you are feeling better. Thank you so much for letting me visit.
